Raising Healthy Children is a public health program developed by David Hawkins and Richard Catalano from the Social Development Research Group at the University of Washington, Seattle. Based on their ‘social development strategy’, the program targets risks in family, schools and peer groups. It provides training for teachers, parent workshops and cognitive and emotional training for children. A quasi-experimental evaluation over 25 years indicates benefits in children’s behavior, school achievement, adolescent criminal behavior, and adult mental health and sexual behavior.
