Parent as Teachers

The Parents as Teachers (PAT) program is an early childhood parent education program that aims to improve child development and school achievement through monthly home visits and group meetings. Four independent randomized controlled trials have demonstrated that the program increases parents’ knowledge of children’s needs and interactions with children. When combined with case management it reduces incidents of child abuse and neglect.
