critical realism

Critical realism is a theory of knowledge, associated with the work of philosopher Roy Bhaskar, which explains that some of our sense data is an accurate representation of the external world and some is not. Closely allied to post-positivism, it questions the assumptions made by traditional science about causal relationships. It provides a logical framework for combining qualitative and quantitative investigation.
