Coping Cats is a Cognitive Behavior Therapy program developed by Phillip Kendall at Temple University in Philadelphia. It involves 15 to 20 sessions with a trained clinical psychologist working with groups or individuals. Some versions of the program involve parents. The program has been replicated and evaluated – under titles such as Coping Bears, Coping Koalas and FRIENDS – in Canada, Australia and Netherlands. Several experimental evaluations point to impact on anxiety, phobia and depression. The program has been used in meta-analysis and systematic reviews of CBT programs which also indicate positive impacts with good effect size.
