The Achenbach System of Empirically Based Assessment (ASEBA) screens child populations and identifies those at high risk of mental disorders. It is based on the Child Behavior Checklist or CBCL. ASEBA identifies children at risk of eight syndromes: anxiety, depression, somatic complaints, social problems, cognitive problems, attention difficulties, rule breaking behavior and aggressive behavior. It has important differences from and serves similar functions to the Strengths and Difficulties Questionnaire or SDQ.
