Jay Belsky is Professor of Psychology in the Institute for the Study of Children, Families and Social Issues at Birkbeck College. He is well-known for his work on the inter-generational transmission of parenting and has been a researcher on the Dunedin Multidisciplinary Health and Development Project for many years.
Jay Belsky also led the national evaluation of Sure Start in England. His other research interests include the effects of day care, parent-child relations during the infancy and early childhood years, the transition to parenthood, the aetiology of child maltreatment, and the evolutionary basis of parent and child functioning.
